About the hotel
About the hotel
InterContinental Dar Al Tawhid Makkah stands on Ibrahim Al Khalil Road, in the row of hotels facing Masjid al-Haram on the King Fahd Gate side of the western plaza, opposite the Abraj Al Bait complex. The Haram is about 220 m away, roughly a 3-4 minute walk, so pilgrims can go to the five daily prayers and return to their rooms without any transport or waiting for buses. Some listings add that the Zamzam well and the entrance to the Safa-Marwa gallery are also close on this side, which suits pilgrims who repeat tawaf and sa'i at different times of day, as well as those accompanying older relatives who want to keep walking to a minimum. The hotel carries the InterContinental brand of IHG Hotels & Resorts and is rated five stars within the central area around the Haram.
According to some listings, the hotel has around 600 rooms and suites, and rooms come with a prayer mat, a qibla marker and a copy of the Quran, small touches pilgrims appreciate when returning from the Haram to pray or read the Quran in their room. For dining, some listings describe Al Rehab restaurant, serving a buffet of international and Arabic dishes, and ZamZam Cafe, known for kunafa, oriental sweets and traditional tea. Room service runs around the clock with a menu that mixes international and Saudi classics, and during Ramadan it includes suhoor and iftar served in the room, a convenient option for guests who return late from Taraweeh prayers or prefer a quiet suhoor before heading to Fajr prayer at the Haram.
The hotel offers services suited to families and groups travelling for Umrah, including a concierge that helps arrange visits to religious sites in Makkah, a laundry and ironing service, and private parking for a fee of about SAR 150 per day according to some listings. There is also a fitness centre and a business centre with several meeting rooms that suit delegations and Umrah group organisers, plus free WiFi throughout the hotel according to some listings, although some note it can slow down at peak times. Like all hotels in Makkah, the hotel serves no alcohol. Some listings state that a photo ID and a credit card are required at check-in, that smoking is allowed only in designated areas, and that non-smoking rooms are available.
